In January of this year we were successful in securing a grant from the “Dormant Accounts Fund Scaling Fund for Social Enterprises Strand 1 – Medium-Scale Capital Projects for Social Enterprises”.
After sourcing the most competitive prices and value for money, this grant has allowed us to purchase a wheelchair passenger lift installed by Barron Lifts Ireland from Clonroche, Co Wexford. This lift will enable wheelchair users, people with physical disabilities, students, staff and customers access to our first-floor level which we are planning to develop more services in, in the near future. We would like to extend our appreciation to Sarah Louise Fortune and the staff who support her, in completing an Access Audit of our new lift.
The grant will also allow us to complete the next phase which is to tarmac the car park, to include extra disabled access parking spaces, electric car charging points and a bicycle rack.
These necessary improvements will impact both local industry and our own Social Enterprises & Training facilities, enhancing health & safety standards along with sustainability & increased business opportunities.
Since 2019 we have prioritised this business entity and have been successful with many grant application bodies which allows us to complete phase developments of our services at Kilcannon Garden Centre & Restaurant, while ensuring we minimise our own spend.
Our Mission:
To enable and empower people with disabilities to live the life of their choice to their utmost potential.
