There’s something special about a café that feels like more than just somewhere to grab a coffee. At Dill & Pickle, we want you to feel welcome whether you’re joining us for breakfast, meeting friends for lunch, catching up over coffee, settling into a cosy corner to get some work done, or ordering catering for your next event. But there’s another reason we’re proud of what we do. When you support Dill & Pickle, you’re also supporting Reach Ability.
More than a café
Dill & Pickle is one of the social enterprises operated by Reach Ability, an organisation with a long history of supporting people with disabilities and their families. Reach Ability was founded in 1975 by a team of volunteers led by Fr. Tony Scallan, a pioneer in developing services for people with disabilities in County Wexford. What began with six adults in a small workshop in Enniscorthy has grown into an organisation supporting more than 200 people, from early childhood through to older age.
Today, Reach Ability provides a wide range of supports, all delivered with the aim of enabling and empowering people with disabilities to live the life of their choice and reach their full potential. And that’s where social enterprise comes in.
Your coffee has a bigger purpose
Reach Ability provides its services free of charge and relies on a combination of Government funding, corporate partnerships, sponsorship, public donations and revenue generated through its social enterprises. Dill & Pickle is part of that picture. Alongside Kilcannon Garden Centre & Restaurant, Astro Active Centre and Bellefield Design, our social enterprises are commercial ventures established to help financially support Reach Ability’s services and provide employment opportunities.
So when you choose Dill & Pickle, you’re not just choosing somewhere to eat. You’re supporting a social enterprise with a purpose.
Good food, made with care
Of course, we also want the food on your plate to be something you genuinely enjoy. Our recently refurbished café reflects our food philosophy, fresh, tasteful and hearty, while still feeling inviting and comforting. Whenever possible, we make our food in-house. From breakfast and freshly made lunches to home-baked treats, healthy snacks and our ever-popular coffee, there’s something for everyone.
And if you’re planning an event, our outside catering service means you can enjoy Dill & Pickle wherever your event takes you. Our meeting and dining spaces can also provide a welcoming place for staff lunches, gatherings and catch-ups.
A community around us
Our mission at Reach Ability is: To enable and empower people with disabilities to live the life of their choice to their utmost potential. Everything we do is connected to that mission. So the next time you pop into Dill & Pickle for a coffee, meet a friend for lunch, book our meeting space or choose us to cater your event, remember that your support goes further.
Every coffee. Every meal. Every booking. Every catering order. It all helps.
Thank you for supporting Dill & Pickle, supporting our team and, ultimately, supporting the work of Reach Ability.
