Reach Ability & Windows of Enniscorthy Art Trail

We are delighted to be taking part in the Windows of Enniscorthy Art Trail, as part of the Enniscorthy Arts & Culture Festival and Culture Night. This wonderful initiative brings art and creativity into the heart of the town, with local businesses and community spaces transforming their windows into temporary galleries. We are particularly proud to be part of this celebration of local talent, creativity and community.

Clay and Community

Our window at Burkes Community Hub on Rafter Street is currently home to a beautiful collection of ceramic works entitled Clay and Community.

The pieces were created by the Elm Ward at St. John’s Community Hospital, in collaboration with artist Anne Manning, staff and residents. The project provided an opportunity for participants to explore creativity and free expression through working with clay, while drawing inspiration from the natural environment and Enniscorthy’s own rich history with clay.

The project also celebrates the living memory of Paddy Murphy and his connection to clay in the local area.

The ceramic works incorporate local red clay from Carley’s Bridge, inspired by the marl used by Paddy Murphy, alongside cobalt slip and reused glass from the Turret Rocks. Among the materials incorporated into the pieces is a broken glass bowl, giving new life and meaning to something that might otherwise have been discarded. The result is a collection that is not only visually beautiful, but also tells a story about place, people, history, nature and community.

Celebrating Local Talent

We are also delighted to have the opportunity to showcase a painting by Reach Ability’s own James Boyne in our window. Having James’ work included alongside the Clay and Community exhibition makes the display particularly special to us. It reflects the importance of providing opportunities for everyone to express themselves creatively and to have their work seen and celebrated within the wider community.

For us, this is what makes the Windows of Enniscorthy Art Trail so meaningful. It is about much more than displaying artwork, it is about creating connections, celebrating different voices and making creativity accessible to everyone.
